4/28/2020 Give Yourself Permission to Feel Good Sometimes the amazing stuff can coexist with the tough stuff. Give yourself permission to feel good. It’s okay to be human. Even when things aren’t working out as you planned, we need to learn to access good-feeling emotions.
Dedicate some time every day to consciously focus on feeling good so that in time it actually becomes your default state. When we embody an energy of joy, we realease resistance and angst. I know it can be extremely difficult to find joy in seemingly joyless situations, but it is far more painful to live a joyless existence. When we focus on what isn’t working we just get more of what’s not working. One of the fastest ways to get back into alignment with what you desire is to do something that makes you feel good. If I’ve had a bad day, I’ll get my headphones, pick out some great music and take a walk around the block or go to an exercise class. Even though things aren’t going as planned, I have learned that I can still have fun and CHOOSE to be happy in spite of conditions and circumstances. IT IS A CHOICE!! In fact, the more fun I have the closer i get to attracting what i want. Sometimes we have to stop focusing so hard on our desires in order to attract them into our life. The desire is ALWAYS there, it is just that focusing on its absence actually deflects it, whereas having fun brings us closer to receiving our desire. Release the grip of resistance by redirecting your focus onto something that will distract you. GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY and find something to do that brings you joy, happiness and excitement. That way...you can ROCK THIS LIFE NOW!!!!! Love you all! 4/24/2020 PRACTICE RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS Kindness has such multiplying effects. It’s an incredible feeling to bring kindness into the world. Even the tiniest act of kindness can elevate someone’s day. It tells another human being that they aren’t alone - that there is someone out there thinking of them. And believe me, we ALL need that NOW MORE THAN EVER, but being kind goes way beyond the person who we bought the coffee for or gave the compliment to. Kindness is a contagion!! As we emanate it, we spread it!
Think of a pebble in the water..imagine you have a pebble in your hand and you are standing at the edge of a small body of still, calm water. You toss the pebble into the middle of the water and watch as it creates a vibration through the water, sending gentle ripples outward reverberating concentric circles all the way through the pond. When we pick up the tab, or volunteer our time, we are instigating a small “splash” that will ripple out farther than we could ever know. There’s a whole circle of people who will be uplifted by our gesture and feel inspired to be more kind themselves. This is where the multiplying, or compound, effect comes in. Whenever we observe an act of kindness we are impacted, the same way as the recipient. A kind gesture does not just impact the person on the receiving end, it impacts everyone who observes it, or even hears about it. I invite you today to spread kindness in any way that you can..a smile, a kind word, - as you interact with others, don’t be afraid to make small waves and feel the power of your kindness reverberating. 4/22/2020 LOVE DOESN’T NEED A HOLIDAYLove doesn’t need a holiday such as Valentine’s Day or any other special day, Love shows up every single day.
*Love is having actual conversations with the clerk behind the counter or the grocery attendant packing up your bags. *Love is slowing down to let someone over on the freeway *Love is sending a text to a friend just saying “I’m thinking of you” *Love is waving hello even if they don’t wave back *Love is the random smiling at someone, who you never know that you might have just made their day *Love is holding the door for the elderly woman with a walker This is the kind of love that brings a smile to God’s Face. It isn’t complicated, it’s nothing fancy ...simple random acts of kindness. It doesn’t need an invitation or holiday. Love simply shows up, EVERY SINGLE DAY! Sometimes in our darkest moments, in our brokenness, we see God’s love again and again. Everything has more meaning. The little things have grown smaller, the things that truly matter have grown larger, the sunsets have more color and rainbows have more wonder. The here and now today, the loss of yesterday, any pain that comes tomorrow, is only temporary...nothing lasts forever. Remember in these unprecedented times: He will give me strength to walk over the hills and through the valleys to a place of peace, knowing He is in control and right there with me every step of the way. His love gently lights the way ahead. 4/17/2020 OVERCOME FEAR WITH THESE 5 STEPS In his famous speech, when Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese, known as the most infamous day in history, American president Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed the nation, famously stated, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”.
Fear is universal and we ALL face it, so why do some people allow it to paralyze them and others rise to the occasion and step up, appearing to be fearless? The only way to deal with fear is to face it head on and overcome it. Dale Carnegie said, “In-action breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, DO NOT sit at home and think about it Go out and get busy”. Here are some steps to take action and overcome fear: 1. Admit/Accept Your Fears One of the biggest misconceptions is that courage equals a lack of fear when actually the opposite is true. “Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear”, Mark Twain said. By admitting your fear, we can then challenge how accurate it really is. 2. What is the Foundation of our Fear Much of our fear is not based upon facts, but based on a feeling. There is an old saying that happens to be one of my favorite quotes regarding fear, “Fear and worry are interest paid in advance on something you may never own”. When we acknowledge that the majority of fear is unfounded, we can begin to release its power over us. 3. Focus on What You Can Control We can’t control when our time is up, we cannot control our circumstances that we face but we can control our attitudes and our actions. John Wooden said, “Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do”. Remember that YOU decide: *“I can control my attitude, but not others actions” *”I can control my calendar, but not others’ circumstances” *”It’s not what happens TO me, but what happens IN me” 4. Focus on TODAY! The only thing you have any control over is today! Yesterday is history and tomorrow hasn’t happened yet… But focusing only on what is right in front, we can manage tremendous risk as we know we only have to deal with it one day at a time. 5. Do It NOW - TAKE ACTION! Often, all it takes to conquer our fears is to change our focus, and focus on that which we CAN control. By taking action in the face of fear, by accepting that fear is part of life and must be faced and overcome with courage, we will achieve results. Harry Truman said, “The worst danger we face is the danger of being paralyzed by doubts and fears. This danger is brought on by those who abandon faith and sneer at hope”. We must feed our faith and starve our fears. Hope is Having Overcome Persevering in Everything. NEVER GIVE UP HOPE! Faith is about NOT asking God to take you out of the storm, it’s about asking Him to help you THROUGH the storm. 4/15/2020 WILL YOU SEE BLESSINGS IN THE PAIN Sometimes life turns upside down in a meer moment and we are met with unspeakable pain. Other times it comes on like a slow leak that continually drips. We step into a new world we never ever anticipated, riddled with hurt and frustration and hard stuff to persevere through. We might know that “God’s got it” but the pain still remains and we need to decide if we will choose to see the blessings in the pain.
We KNOW God can and WILL bring good out of the terrible, unforeseen hardships, but we have to be willing to look for the blessings within. “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”. Romans 8:28 It is possible to endure terrible conditions and circumstances and find blessings at the same time; one will not cancel out the other. Once I began practicing truly placing my COMPLETE TRUST and dependence on God, I have discovered a relationship with Him that I never knew was possible. He is my best friend and is there always, right by my side, no matter what. He whispers to me, “Be still and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10. I feel that i am truly blessed beyond measure, but that does not mean that I do not have challenging days where I question things, BECAUSE I DO, but it does say out of the difficult times some amazing qualities and blessings have arisen. My character is being tested and i need to stay faithful and obedient. It is inevitable that at some point we all meet up with the unexpected and life seems as if it is utterly unbearable. Are you going to choose to see only the difficulty and hardship? Looking for the goodness of God in the middle of hardship will not erase the pain but it will help you to embrace the unexpected with a sense of peace. I challenge you to stop and count your blessings that have come from overcoming difficult situations. “This too shall pass...Count it all joy”... Remember, you only have one, so ROCK THIS LIFE NOW!! The setbacks have been extremely widespread and significant for all of us, and the question is how are you going to respond?
Every setback has a benefit...nothing great has ever been achieved without adversity. “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it”, as Charles Swindoll so eloquently stated. Think on the benefits of setbacks: 1) Setbacks prompt creativity and innovation 2) Setbacks develop maturity 3) Setbacks provide us greater opportunities 4) Setbacks create GRIT & resilience 5) Setbacks MOTIVATE 6) Setbacks push the envelope of accepted performance Finding the benefit in a setback is an ability that must be learned and cultivated. Success is earned as you learn from adversity and we must learn how to embrace setback as part of the journey. Reframing your perspective on setbacks will help you continue to move forward, no matter how far you have been knocked down. While we may not know exactly what the future holds, we do know that “this too shall pass”. Will you be ready to bounce back when we come out of this...and WE WILL come out of this!!! |
