GET OUT OF YOUR OWN DAMN WAY

Picture
Every single action you take, or do not take, has a consequence or result.  POSITIVE or NEGATIVE..Closer to the goal or further from it.
When we stack our actions that are positive, our results will compound, just like interest, and inevitably, bring us closer to our visions.

In other words, when we do more or the right things, we have the best chance of winning.  When you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed or not making progress, remember, doing NOTHING is an action too.

There are energy draining activities and there are income producing activities and ideas, dreams and goals are nothing more until you do something...TAKE ACTION and bring them to life.

You have to TAKE ACTION to make them real:
        Make the Call
        Raise the Money
        Do the Meeting
        Speak to the Team
        DO THE THING!!!

This is what leads to greatness when done day in and day out.  You have the ability, you just have to put in the work and Focused actions.  Write down all the things that take you “off task”, distract or take you away from focused action and STOP DOING THEM!!!

Don’t waste time doing NOTHING! Get up..Get Going...and DO IT!!

THE FAT LOSS PYRAMID THAT CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER

Picture
How do you view your own health and wellness? This is a very crucial question to think about…

Do you see it as something you “get to do”:
        *I ate well today...CHECK
        *I did my workout today...CHECK
        *I slept well last night...CHECK
        *I was positive today...CHECK
*I was kind to myself today...CHECK

OR…
Do you look at it as a chore or something you “have to do”:
*I ate too many carbs today...I SUCK
*I didnt get my workout in today...I SUCK
*I am so far behind on everything...I SUCK
*I am not as good as all these other people...I SUCK
*I stay up too late & waste time on social media...I SUCK

Do you see the difference in the two attitudes or “views”?
One thought process is positive, focused but also kind and forgiving and the other is negative, shame-filled and always behind.

My WORST days are when I am in the second “I Suck” thought process.  This “tribe” mentality is actually a common tribe to be in for high performers because they are so often “behind” in their mind and time table they set for themselves.

    Not in good enough shape
Not as good as others’ highlight reels
Not getting stuff done fast enough

The Fat Loss Pyramid consists of Calorie Deficit , Protein Intake (.7g-1g per body weight), Lifting Weights (2-5 times per week), Sleep (7-9 hours/night) and Cardio (30 minutes a day , 5 days a week)..

By following the Pyramid you will feel rested and revitalized, lean and have more focus and more regulated moods.  Protect your health - both physically and mentally - and in the end, you will be in the best possible position to perform and be the best version of yourself.

Motivating Others

Picture
It can be really tough to be motivated, but we all know that if you have that one person in your life that is always trying to push you and support your goals, it makes a big difference. So how do you motivate others? How do you become that person who can get them to take action? First, your job is NOT to completely change them. You are also not supposed to solve all their problems for them. You also need to understand that everyone has different ambitions and not everyone shares the same drive as you do. Here are a couple things you can do to help motivate others:

Ask questions. Get people to come up with the idea first. If they come up with the idea, they will be more motivated and take action to make that idea become reality.
Support them with confidence. They need to be cheered on when they win. They need to be cheered on when they lose. In either case, provide them with any resources they might find helpful to continue their success.
Talk with them about their goals. Create a clear vision in a low pressure environment. If you are pressuring them on their goals and vision about what things would look like AFTER an accomplishment, it can be overwhelming for them.
Be a role model. Practice what you preach. You can outline what your goals and visions are as well as what is working and what’s not. This will help them remain motivated too!

WHAT LEVEL ARE YOU WILLING TO PLAY AT?

Picture
In the game of life we all need to ask ourselves that very question…”What level are you willing to play at?” Are you playing SMALL or are you playing BIG?  We all have the same twenty four hours in a day, which basically makes each day a level playing field. It is how we CHOOSE to make the most of the time we have in each day.  What is easy to do, unfortunately, is also NOT easy to do.

One of my favorite quotes is by Steve Jobs, who said, “Those that think they are crazy enough to change the world, are the ones that will.”  These are the people who play at the highest level...ALL IN!! You have to believe in full potential thinking...you have to be willing to fail, because it is in failing that we truly learn, and you MUST be willing to do what others are not willing to do!!  What if you were created for a time such as this? Don’t be afraid of being really successful and DON’T be afraid to play FULL OUT!!

Take a deep breath and get out of your own way...stop the self-sabotage and become the person you were created to be.  The commitments we make to ourselves are the most crucial and sacred in our lives and yet, most people just bail on themselves while keeping their word to everyone else.  YOU have to be your own cheerleader, your own coach...you have to be your very greatest champion! You have to show up when you said you would and keep the promises you make to yourself.  The person you dream of becoming is on the other side of the promises and commitments that you keep breaking to yourself!! PLAY BIG, PLAY FULL OUT and Leave NOTHING to chance!!! Remember...you only have one - so don’t blow it...ROCK THIS LIFE NOW!!

How to be Fulfilled and Satisfied with your Career

Picture
The old school model of working your way up and eventually retiring is not really relevant anymore. A lot of people find themselves being frustrated or unsatisfied with their life and it can often tie back to their career. Here are 5 steps you can take in order to get that career satisfaction you’ve been searching for:
  1. Experiment! Try plenty of new things and stick to the ones that make you most happy. Drop the rest!
  2. Don’t stick to just one job. Having variety is absolutely key to success.
  3. Focus on your values and not so much on your skills. If you take a step back and understand what kind of impact you want to have on the world and then find careers that help satisfy these values, it will make a world of difference.
  4. Whether you are looking at traditional jobs or entrepreneurship, you need to understand the fundamentals and all aspects of the job or business to see how that lines up with your values and what you enjoy doing.
  5. Community building and Networking are two very different things. Networking is often thought of as the antiquated exchange of business cards where both people want something from one another. Community building and collaboration is where it’s at! This is where you actually focus on what the other person is facing in their life and where they want to be. Then providing value (content, conversation, events, etc) to help them reach that.
Times have certainly changed for careers and the traditional path of moving through life. If you want to read more about this, check out the original article here.

YOUR SETBACK IS SETTING YOU UP FOR A COMEBACK

Picture
We need to work with obstacles in our everyday life and yet we often think of obstacles as distractions from real life, but really they are part of our journey, part of our training.  Whatever comes up can train us. There is a great ZEN proverb that speaks to this. It goes, “Obstacles do not block the path, they ARE the path”. So the next time you are met with obstacles, think of them in this way, as part of your growth, accepting them and working WiTH them.  “This is the path”.

Every obstacle introduces a person to himself.  No obstacle leaves you as it finds you, it changes you, for better, or for worse.  It is the way you look at it that makes all the difference..it’s all perspective. Let each new obstacle take you to the next level.

A wonderful example of an obstacle in the Bible is the giant, Goliath.  He intimidated the armies of Israel, including the brothers of the young shepherd boy, David.  The brothers chose not to do anything , but David did. The brothers looked at the obstacle and figured it was too big to hit, but David looked at it and figured it was too big to miss.  Every obstacle has a limited life span. Every problem has a soft spot.

Obstacles take average people out of the game, but great leaders rise above them and play FULL OUT!! Many people think that most of their obstacles are money-related, but the truly correct perspective is to know that a problem that can be solved with a checkbook is not really an obstacle; it’s an expense!!

One of my favorite quotes goes, “Obstacles are those frightful things we see when we take our eyes off the goal”.  Keep your eyes on the goal, trust the process and remember that you are not alone in your struggle. “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”.  (Romans 8:28).

In times of adversity, you do not have an obstacle, you have a CHOICE.  In the midst of unbelievable circumstances, have faith, patience and BELIEVE!

YOU HAVE THE CHOICE

Picture
How do you respond when life hits you out of the blue and takes your legs out from underneath you? Do you choose victimhood or do you choose an empowered attitude?

YOU have the CHOICE in how you respond!  For this week whenever something “happens to you”, take a moment to pause, take a breath and see how you would respond in the split second it happens.  And then CHOOSE...is this how I want to respond? Is this serving me?

IF NOT, make a shift ...Leave the pity party and DO NOT allow yourself to sink to that level..IT’s YOUR CHOICE!!

And as you practice this shift, remember how you do anything is how you do everything!!  There will be a definite ripple effect.  You have all you need within you to choose an empowered state of living and being! You are truly blessed and this life is a gift...Remember - YOU ONLY HAVE ONE, so ROCK THIS LIFE NOW!!

SLEEP IS CRUCIAL FOR LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE

Picture
Restful sleep is a key ingredient to living your best, most miraculous life!  It has been found that we truly need seven to eight hours of REAL sleep to feel fully rested and be able to perform at your highest level.

In an interview with Arianna Huffington, President and Editor-in-Chief for the Huffington Post, she discussed how sleep is crucial to innovation.  She said, “the world is in desperate need of big ideas - and there are many, many of them locked inside of us. We just need to close our eyes to see them”.

Lack of sleep is another way that we block our creativity, power and intuition.  We often measure our productivity based on how hard we work and how little sleep we can survive on, as if this gives bragging rights.  This mentality is negatively affecting our health and overall well-being. Sleep is a spiritual practice, to some degree, and the first step to restorative rest begins with how we fall asleep.

Make a conscious effort to leave technology, social media, television, email etc some place far away from you , (so you are not even tempted), and quietly do a breathing practice or simply think about all the things you are grateful and blessed with and sweet dreams.  Sleep tight!!
